  • Providing companionship, sitting and chatting service, social skills, encouraging social interaction and making sure the client is prepared
  • Working with volunteers, family carers and local social groupings to facilitate cultural and social gatherings
  • Reminiscing and mental awareness stimulation, perhaps along with a volunteer or friend of the client
  • Supporting activities, either 1-2-1 or within a group, these stimulating and life enhancing activities may take place in the home, or at other venues
  • Letter / email writing, reading and managing correspondence, making sure bills and appointments are not missed
  • Signposting to sources of independent advocacy and advice and guidance
  • Facilitating links such as Skype to enable friends and relatives to keep in touch and provide mental stimulation and social interaction
  • Discretely escorting to medical appointments, such as the GP, OT or hospital, including arranging transport and making sure any bills are properly paid with receipts
  • Arranging and escorting to cultural and social visits, community events and outings, including arranging transport
  • Making sure any bills are properly paid with receipts and any important documentation actioned
  • Escorting to educational/employment establishments, being on hand when needed, making sure the process works for the client
  • Helping the client with participation in hobbies and interests, providing interest, and mental stimulation
  • Walking and travelling, getting out into the fresh air, which is good for health & wellbeing
